Kpop Basics

Learn K-POP choreography through focusing on the basics. This class is all about listening carefully to student needs and immediately helping them understand the movements. The aim of the class is to give you foundations and is the perfect introduction for those new to the style or for experienced students who want to go back to the basics.

Kpop Fusion

This class explores Korean pop music through a unique fusion of Korean traditional movement and contemporary dance.
Rather than focusing on imitation alone, we take time to understand the lyrics, emotions, and cultural context behind K-pop, allowing movement to grow from meaning.

The class is led by Suyoung, who trained in both the Korean commercial dance industry and Korean contemporary dance. Drawing from the directional quality and grounded aesthetics of traditional Korean movement, she re-imagines them in a more modern and expressive way, creating original choreography that feels both rooted and contemporary.

This 1-hour beginner class is ideal for:

  • Those fascinated by Korean dramas and the emotional depth of K-pop
  • Dancers curious about Korean-influenced creative movement
  • Anyone wanting to experience a different approach to contemporary dance through Korean aesthetics

No prior experience is required.

Biography

Currently based in London, she is a dancer and choreographer trained in hip-hop, commercial, contemporary, and K-pop. Having received professional dance training in both South Korea and Japan, she has worked extensively in the K-pop industry as a backup dancer and choreographer. With over 20 years of teaching experience, she has delivered dance classes to a wide range of age groups in Korea and led K-pop workshops across Japan, China, Slovenia, and Croatia. In 2022 and 2023, she served as a judge for the K-pop UK National Competition.
