PERFORMANCE COURSES
Are you an amateur dancer (18+) who would love the opportunity to perform to stage?
Danceworks is excited to present our next series of Performance Courses, giving you the chance to learn and rehearse a choreography in your chosen style before performing as part of our showcase in an audience-filled theatre.
Over several weeks you’ll work closely with your teacher and fellow performers to create a piece for the stage, build your confidence, develop your performance skills and become part of a supportive dance community.
Our showcases celebrate the dance and incredible talent within our community, featuring performances from Danceworks students alongside special guest performances from our faculty and staff.
What To Expect
Once you’ve signed up you’ll attend weekly rehearsals with your teacher and fellow performers as you work towards bringing a 3–5 minute piece to the stage. Along the way you’ll build technique, learn choreography, formations and performance skills, and work together to shape the overall presentation of your piece, including costumes, hair and make-up where appropriate. If you’d like even more stage time, you’re welcome to take part in multiple performance courses.
It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous about performing. Whether it’s your first time on stage or you are an experienced performer, our teachers and team will be there to guide and support you every step of the way.
During the technical rehearsal, you’ll have the chance to experience the theatre from a performer’s perspective, get familiar with the stage and backstage areas, rehearse entrances and exits, test props and spacing, and see how lighting, music and other technical elements come together to bring each performance to life.
Show day includes a dress rehearsal where we run the show from start to finish in costume followed by two live performances. Closer to the event we’ll provide a detailed information pack covering everything you need to know, including timings, what to bring, the running order, arrival instructions and other important information to help you feel fully prepared for your time on stage. After the show we head to the afterparty!

- Matinee performance – 2.30pm
- Evening performance – 7pm
Please note that participation requires attendance at both the technical rehearsal on Friday evening and the full day of rehearsals and performances on Saturday.

Cancellation Policy
- Bookings may be cancelled up to 14 days before the course start date for a full refund, no refunds thereafter.
- No refunds, credits or make-up sessions are available for missed rehearsals, including in cases of illness, injury or travel disruption.
- If Danceworks cancels a course, a full refund will be provided.
