Biography

Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, Sophie began dancing at the age of three and trained in classical ballet, contemporary dance and jazz throughout her childhood, performing and competing both nationally and internationally. In 2012 she was awarded 4th place at the National Young Performer of the Year Award, and was a semi-finalist at the Genée International Ballet Competition (now the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition). After graduating from the Philippa Campbell School of Ballet in 2013, Sophie received a full scholarship to spend the summer at the Joffrey Ballet School in Manhattan, New York where she was later offered a place as a full-time classical student. She was also offered a place at the New Zealand School of Dance and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Around the same time, Sophie landed the role of Honour Aleni on the much loved New Zealand series Shortland Street, and fell in love with film and television. Ever since, Sophie has split her time between acting and dancing professionally, starring in music videos, television series, and feature films in New Zealand, the US, and the UK. Sophie adores performing and considers herself very fortunate to do what she loves for a living.
