Biography

Prentice Whitlow is a US-born British dancer and digital producer working at the intersection of dance and interactive media.  His performance credits include The Mark Morris Dance Group, Elisa Monte Dance, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Opera North and BBC Film. Whitlow is the inaugural recipient of the Black British Theater Award for Best Dance Performance in a Dance Production. He has also been named one of the 100 most influential people working in interactive media by the British Interactive Media Association for his work combining dance and augmented reality.

Class Description: Springboard is your nurturing launchpad into the world of movement where you can learn to trust your body, connect with space and rhythm and unlock movement skills that feel authentically yours.

This neuro-divergent friendly class focuses on spatial awareness, learning how to learn from others and developing the confidence to walk into any dance class feeling ready. Each session combines gentle warm-ups, playful solo work, and supportive group exercises designed to help you discover your natural movement potential.

Whether you’re new to dance or returning after time away, Springboard gives you the foundation and confidence to explore any class the studio offers.

Class Breakdown (1.5 hours):

  • Warm-up (20 mins): Gentle body awareness and alignment exercises to connect with your movement
  • Solo Exploration (40 mins): Individual exercises focusing on spatial awareness and personal movement discovery
  • Group Connection (20 mins): Supportive group exercises that build confidence dancing with and learning from others
  • Q&A (10 mins): Reflection on the session and space for questions about taking other classes
