Class Description

Jazz Foundations is the perfect starting point for anyone new to jazz dance or looking to strengthen their skills. In this fun, welcoming class, you’ll explore the fundamental elements of jazz style while developing strong technique, expressive performance skills and confidence in the studio. Throughout the classes, you’ll enjoy a supportive environment where learning feels energizing, creative, and empowering, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop and improve in a wide variety of jazz dance styles. Whether you’re stepping into the studio for the first time, reconnecting with dance, or wanting to strengthen your technique, this class will help you move with joy and confidence.

Biography

Lewis grew up on the Hampshire coast and now proudly calls London home. He trained at Bird College, graduating in 2005, before embarking on an exciting professional career. As a dancer, he toured internationally with Spirit of the Dance, performing in world-renowned venues including Hollywood’s prestigious Dolby Theatre. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Lewis has shared his love of Jazz with dancers of all ages and abilities across the South Coast. His classes are energetic, supportive, and rooted in a genuine passion for helping students grow both technically and creatively. He teaches and choreographs in a number of styles including Technical, Musical Theatre and Lyrical jazz as well as Commercial.  Lewis is delighted to be joining the Dance Works teaching team and is excited to establish himself within the vibrant jazz dance community in London.
