Class Description

This general-level class is open to all dancers ages 13 and up.

Join Kim for an eclectic ballet class that draws from her experience dancing around the world. You’ll work on a unique blend of styles, including European-style ballet with an emphasis on Vaganova technique and the speed and clarity of Balanchine.

Kim’s class is about more than just technique—it’s about dancing. He challenges students with choreographic combinations that engage both the body and mind. Through his corrections, you’ll learn to use breath, dynamics, and musicality to make your dancing truly stand out. Whether you’re a contemporary, musical theatre performer or classically-trained dancer, a student or an adult, all are welcome. Just be ready to work hard, get sweaty, and have fun!

Biography

Kim Amundsen is a highly accomplished and qualified Higher Education dance instructor with 12 years of experience planning and delivering dance curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Born in Bodø, Norway, Kim trained at the Oslo National Academy of Dance and the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung Ballet Academy University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He has performed with world-renowned companies, including Bavarian State Ballet, Wayne Sleep’s World of Classical Ballet, Random Dance and New adventures.

Amundsen is an expert in Classical Ballet (Vaganova, Ceccetti, RAD) Contemporary Dance (Limón) and Boris Kniaseff Floor Barre method. He has a proven ability to foster critical thinking, creative exploration, and advanced technical skills in diverse student populations.

Amundsen is a Lecturer of Dance & Personal Tutor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He develops and delivers comprehensive curricula for undergraduate students, encompassing Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and Kniaseff Floor Barre method, across Foundation to Postgraduate levels. He also leads and mentors’ students in artistic and technical development, fostering a disciplined and explorative learning environment. Kim also teaches at Acosta Advanced Training Huh. Teaching The next generation of talent Kniaseff Floor Barre method and Classical Ballet technique. Kim is a highly sought-after dance instructor and mentor.
