Class Description

The perfect class for beginner dancers looking to develop their physicality, and explore the depth of human emotion through movement. Based on the technique created by modern dance legend and choreographer Martha Graham, this class will be centred around the core principles of Contraction, Release, Spiral, Breath, and Shift of weight. The class will commence of three distinct sections: Floorwork, standing, and travelling movement sequences. 
Expect to be challenged, but more important expect to have fun! 

Biography

Berenice (She/Her) is a dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher. A graduate of the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, the Ailey School, and the Royal academy of Dance. She received the Pearl Lang award for excellence and talent in choreography in 2019, and the Davis projects for peace award and grant in 2021. She was asked to choreograph for the Martha Graham School scholarship gala in 2019, and thereafter for the accelerated professional students at the School. She was a dancer in Elephant in the Black Box Company France 2020-2021. Her work has been shown at Lincoln Centre NYC, Kulturhus Haus Graz, Messums Wiltshire, the Ailey City Group Theatre and IFEMA Madrid, amongst others. For more information visit: www.alethberenice.com
