* Footwear: Ballet shoes are also helpful.
The Boris Kniaseff (BK) Floor Barre technique is a unique and highly effective method that complements traditional dance training. Developed by combining Graham-style floor exercises with classical ballet techniques, it offers a complete workout of classical repertoire, performed entirely on the floor.
Unlike a standalone re-education program, BK Floor Barre is designed to be integrated into your existing training. It focuses specifically on placement and provides a holistic approach to centering the mind and body. The exercises often follow the order of a typical ballet class, giving you coordination between your arms and legs and sculpting your muscles in a healthy way. This technique also strongly emphasizes strengthening your core to re-establish the connection between your lower and upper body.
Each 120-minute class is divided into two parts:
* 60 minutes of Floor Work: This segment focuses on the core BK Floor Barre techniques, allowing you to learn and refine the exercises.
* 60 minutes of Contemporary Choreography: Here, you’ll immediately apply the BK Floor Barre techniques and methods learned to practical contemporary choreography, reinforcing your understanding and muscle memory.
