Masterclass Description
In this unique Ballet Masterclass, as well as a full class there will be a deep dive into the art and history of movements and steps as you learn how to perfect your technique and receive individual corrections which will elevate your knowledge, skill and artistry.
Taught by world class dancer and former Royal Ballet Principal Ivan Putrov, this Masterclass is for everyone who is on their ballet journey from beginners with some practice and knowledge under their belt, to advanced dancers looking to finesse their technique with a master, learning interesting and fun facts along the way.
Biography
Ivan Putrov is a ballet dancer and producer who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1980. His mother, Natalia Berezina-Putrova, was a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Ukraine and his father, Oleksandr Putrov, was also a company dancer. Putrov had ballet classes as a child and joined the Kyiv State Choreographic Institute age ten, making his first appearance on stage a year later. In 1996, he won the Prix de Lausanne, the most prestigious and oldest international competition for pre-professional ballet dancers.Putrov went on to win the Gold Medal at the Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition, dancing various classical solos and a modern duet with Alina Cojacaru.
In 1997, Putrov joined the Royal Ballet School in London, with a scholarship from the Nureyev Foundation. Putrov was invited by Sir Anthony Dowell to join the Royal Ballet in 1998. He performed in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Le Spectre de la Rose, Don Quixote, La Sylphide and starred as Romeo in the Royal Opera House’s production of Romeo and Juliet rising to the level of Principa.
Putrov left the Royal Ballet in 2010, and has since moved into ballet production. His Men in Motion ballet programmes, were originally performed in London touring to Kyiv, Łodz, Moscow, La Verssiliana and Ravenna.
