Shea Best is a dancer, choreographer, actor, vocalist and director, hailing from Barbados and currently performing and residing in London, UK. Shea holds an MA in Choreography from Leeds Beckett University and is currently on tour with IRIE! Dance Theatre in a dual role as dancer and Company Rehearsal Director. With a diverse wealth of experience in Traditional and Contemporary Caribbean dance forms, as well as modern and contemporary techniques including Horton and Cuban Modern, Shea has worked extensively in as a performer, choreographer, and teacher, performing and touring throughout the Caribbean, Canada and the UK with notable companies such as Dancin’ Africa, Of Another Nature, Riddim Tribe, and Barbados Dance Project. In London, Shea has worked and continues to work with East London Dance, Artistry Youth Dance, MOVE IT! teaching and choreographing using a unique blend of Afro-Caribbean forms and modern contemporary techniques.
Shea’s class is primarily a fusion of Cuban Modern, Horton and Traditional & Contemporary Caribbean dance forms. Each week we will build strength and stamina working on Fortifications, Balances and other centre exercises. Classes will also include choreographic phrases to help you explore new ways to move in unique spaces. Whether you are looking to move and stay active or you are a professional dancer honing your skills, this class is for you. The class is open level, accommodating beginner/intermediate dancers up to professionals.
